Small Area Income Deprivation Estimates have been published providing estimates of income deprivation for each SOA in Northern Ireland for the years 2003/2005. The estimates are a result of research commissioned by NISRA and carried out by Dr Ben Anderson from the University of Essex. Outputs include estimates of the proportion of households with less than 60% of the UK median income and an estimate of income inequality in each SOA. For other geographies (Wards, Districts, Parliamentary Constituencies and Health Boards), the figures are weighted averages of SOA findings.

The Investing for Health (IfH) Strategy aims to improve the health of the entire population of Northern Ireland and to reduce health inequalities. The Strategy set a number of targets through which performance against its goals and objectives can measured. The Eastern Area IfH Partnership engaged Belfast Healthy Cities to develop health and wellbeing indicators to monitor progress.
